Pāpāmoa Hills Cultural Heritage Regional Park remains closed until further notice.
This is due to significant damage caused by the January severe weather event, which impacted tracks and park infrastructure.
Work is underway to construct an alternative walking track around a major slip area to enable the park to safely reopen. We are aiming to have this track open in March.
We know how eager people are to have the park open again and to get back out on the tracks. While this work continues, we ask the public to respect the closure and to stay out of the park, for their own safety.
Our teams are working as quickly and safely as possible, and we look forward to welcoming visitors back to Papamoa Hills as soon as it is safe to do so.
Recreation and protection of both the natural environment and cultural heritage are important aspects of a vibrant region.
We provide ownership and management of regional parks. These parks are explored and enjoyed by thousands of visitors each month.
We maintain and enhance visitor experiences including car parking, toilets, signs and interpretation, track development and maintenance, prescribed grazing and associated management, programmed native re-vegetation and community events.
