This report is a deliverable under the Bay of Plenty Regional Council Climate Change Action Plan 2024-26 workstream ‘Nature Based Solutions’ – investigating the potential for coastal wetland rehabilitation to contribute to blue carbon storage in the region. 

This report aims to provide a current estimate of blue carbon sequestration in the Bay of Plenty, 
and identify how much additional carbon storage could be provided by habitat restoration.
