Your details and property information FAQs

Your valuation reference is the easiest way to identify your property and can be found on any previous rates invoice (from us or your city/district council).

You can also search for your property on our website. If your property doesn’t appear try searching using your valuation reference, as addresses may be formatted differently.

If you cannot find your property using this search, please contact us using the online form

You can update your contact details as follows:

  • Email address: Update online by selecting the “receive your rates invoices by email” option on our website. A confirmation will be sent to your new email address
  • Postal address: This is maintained by your city or district council, so the fastest way to update it is to contact them directly

You can ask us to pass on changes to your local council if needed. You can also choose to have your updated details shared with your local council when submitting a request.

If your details don’t appear to be updated (for example, after buying or selling a property), this is usually because ownership changes are processed by your city or district council and then shared with us. There may be a timing delay in updates being received.

If something doesn’t look right check with your lawyer if it relates to a recent sale or purchase.

Please contact us using the form on our website or call us on 0800 267 728.

Your name and address form part of the official rating record and are managed in line with the Local Government (Rating) Act, the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and the Privacy Act 2020.

You can request confidentiality via our online form so your details are not publicly available. You can also download the form (PDF 129.1KB) and return it to our rates team via post or email.

We would also like to use your name and address to inform you of council activities that may affect you. If you do not wish your name and address to be used by council to inform you of the activities that affect you, please contact us. For further information see our privacy statement.
